About the club

Rheban is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in south west County Kildare, near Kilberry outside Athy. It takes its name from Rheban Castle, the Norman tower house standing beside the River Barrow nearby.

The club competed in the Kildare senior championship in the 1940s, reaching the semi final in 1945. Its strongest modern spell came in the mid 1990s, when it won the county Junior Championship and the Intermediate Championship in successive years in 1996 and 1997.

Rheban has also been named Kildare GAA club of the year on several occasions, including in both 1996 and 1997.
