About the club

Sarsfields is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in east County Galway, drawing from the parish of Bullaun, New Inn and Woodlawn. It was founded in 1966 and is almost exclusively a hurling club.

For a club of its size its record is remarkable. Sarsfields has won the All Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship twice and was the first club ever to successfully defend the title. It beat Kilmallock of Limerick in the 1993 final, then retained the title in 1994 against the Tipperary champions Toomevara.

Those two seasons put a small east Galway parish at the top of the club game in Ireland, and they remain the high point of hurling in this part of the county.
