UCD GAA is the Gaelic games club of University College Dublin, based on the Belfield campus in south Dublin. The hurling club dates from 1900 and carried the mottos Ad Astra and Cothrom Féinne, its first team drawn from students at UCD and Cecilia Street. Gaelic football was played from 1900 as well, though the official club history begins with the 1911/12 season.
The footballers compete in the Sigerson Cup and the Higher Education Leagues, and also in the Dublin Senior Football Championship and the O'Byrne Cup. The hurlers play in the Fitzgibbon Cup and the Higher Education Leagues, and appear from time to time in the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship and the Walsh Cup. The camogie club competes for the Ashbourne Cup and the ladies' footballers for the O'Connor Cup.
As a student club its playing membership turns over constantly, and a great many inter county players have passed through it during their university years. The late Brian Mullins, the Dublin footballer, served as director of sport at UCD.
